a hornby island elopement story…
valerie & doug wanted to get married, to speak out loud their heartfelt vows & promises to one another. And they wanted to elope, to have it be just about one another. And they wanted to do it somewhere beautiful, wrapped in the natural world where they spend so much time. They chose hornby island & their day was perfect. Sweet, simple, honest & heartfelt, indeed. They were married at the edge of the cliff, overlooking tribune bay. TheView full post »

i’ve done this every year for the last few years… taken the time, early in the new year, to look back through the weddings i photographed the year before. And what strikes me most, year after year, is how absolutely grateful i am to the people who trust me to capture their wedding day in photographs. Who open their hearts & share their love & anticipation, kindness & caring, their friends & family, great food, fantastic dance moves, hilarious, heartfeltView full post »

it was the end of summer. I met with lea & andrew the day before their wedding to walk through the details & timing of their day. And it was pouring. West coast, soaked through, down pour kind of pouring. And they were calling for more of the same for the next day. It felt right, in a way, these two so used to being outdoors, in the elements – skiers, mountain bikers, outdoor adventurers. And it had rained at our engagement session (you can see that loveliness here). So all wasView full post »
brennan & ian’s day was amazing. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
i’m not surprised. When i first met them in victoria for their engagement session (check it out here) i knew i was in for an incredible ride on their wedding day. And i was. SO.MUCH.FUN. So much incredibleness. From the moment i arrived, i was bounced around in bubble of love & delight, full of laughter & celebration. It was a big gathering but everyone was so connected it felt intimate & easy. And they chose theView full post »

caitlin & drew are a bit of magic. Truly. They have a spark, intelligence, grace & enthusiasm that is a little mesmerizing & a whole lot of fun to be swept up in. And so was their wedding day. Celebrated at the laid-back splendor of seabreeze lodge on hornby island, caitlin & drew & their crew filled the island with their joy & kindness, leaving trails of love & wonder like footprints behind them. As caitlin’s mom so beautifully said in her toast to the brideView full post »

a look back at some of the moments, many of the faces, the feelings, the promises, love, laughter & joy i was blessed to witness last year.
to each of the couples who invited me along & trusted me to capture your wedding story, thank you. I am so honoured & so much richer for having witnessed your walk into marriage. I am deeply, immensely grateful for the opportunity to be immersed in such days of delight, of love shared, of vows spoken, of hearts wide open with the wonder of itView full post »
lynne & jay wanted their photographs to capture the spirit of their wedding day – their love & joy of being together, of sharing their days with their little man henry, of having their dearest friends & family around them to celebrate their walk into marriage, of all the mingling & dancing & getting-to-know-one-another, the beauty of hornby island, the casual fabulousness of seabreeze lodge, the music of amani marimba & how they call us to move, the speeches thatView full post »
an intimate gathering of family & friends, a little community church, a day that promised rain but held off all afternoon, a lovely home overlooking the straight, love & laughter & a great joy shared… frances & tom, i thank you for inviting me along to capture some of your beautiful day. May all the love surrounding you keep your hearts full & warm. Blessings to you both.View full post »
thea & brian were married at the fabulous seabreeze lodge on hornby island. Thea spent her childhood summers on hornby at her family’s beautiful ocean front home (where she & her girls got ready) & she & brian wanted their wedding day to reflect her connection with the beauty & ease of hornby. And the folks at seabreeze are easy-going at it’s best & the site is gorgeous – sweeping lawns, a ceremony site by the ocean, sandstone beaches, gorgeous gardensView full post »
a sunny day in june. A very sweet couple deeply in love. A gathering of family & friends. A beautiful bluff overlooking the sea. Tears. And laughter. Great joy. Such a wedding celebration…View full post »
friends, a sweet family, a fabulous community gathering, gorgeous sunshine, amazing do-it-yourself details, good food, great music, a first dance like no other, a wedding celebration honouring two wonderful creatives – michelle wilson of hornby island caravans (designer & builder of gorgeous custom made caravans) & lawrence nyberg of nyberg instuments (luthier extraordinaire, builder of fine art stringed instruments).
