There are perks to being a wedding photographer on hornby island & it’s a toss up as to which is more awesome… one is that the environment here is Just.So.Spectacular. And every time i photograph here, i find new ways of seeing the beauty i call home. The second perk is that the people who come to get married here are just so fabulous to work with. And jaimie & clay were no exception. And there’s a little story behind all their day that that speaks a lot about just how great these two are…
They booked their wedding at the ever wonderful Sea Breeze Lodge last year. We met up & walked the grounds together back in the spring, imagining how their day might unfold, talking about different option depending on what weather arrived. One thing we couldn’t have imagined was their wedding without the lodge being there. But that’s just what happened. About 6 weeks before their wedding day, Sea Breeze burnt down. Completely. All the cabins & grounds were untouched but the lodge itself was gone. The bishop’s, who own & run the lodge, along with a posse of hornby island locals, worked almost non-stop for weeks to get everything together in time to host jaimie & clay’s wedding. It was a push. And, at times, hard to imagine how they could pull it off. But they did. And it was incredible. The day came bursting sunshine, light breezes blew, an amazing tribe of family & friends gathered to witness jaimie & clay walk into marriage & all was really quite perfect.
jaimie & clay, wishing all the energy, delight, fun & incredible love you had swirling around you continues to support you as you journey through your lives together. And i look forward to bumping into you from time to time, in the coop line up. Or better yet, on our bikes on the mountain. Deepest happiness to you both.
