one of the greatest gifts there can be is the opportunity to stand back & watch our kids marry someone wonderful. This post is a sweet celebration of just that.
eight years ago, midori & ryan crossed paths, for a few sweet weeks, before she headed back home to japan. And their dance began. And it’s been a joy watching them find their way through the years, through different countries, different homes, changing careers paths, directions, hopes & dreams. To watch themView full post »
danielle & rod were married just outside campbell river at the stunning shelter point distillery. Their day was filled with late summer sunshine, clear skies, a gathering of very fun & supportive family & friends, loads of laughter & a whole lot of beautiful everywhere, inside this sweet couple & all around them. The speeches were heartfelt & hilarious, there were his & hers cakes (complete with miniature stanley cup), beautiful details, great food, fabulousView full post »
Call me bias, but i do love a gulf island wedding… & megan & spencer’s quadra island wedding was the epitome of why. Their laid back, seemingly effortless grace & open-heartedness, wrapped in a stunning coastal environment, at a lodge set at the edge of the sea, a fantastic gathering of family & friends, all the love & warmth & caring, made it a pure pleasure to witness & document. Lucky me. It was a summer of sunshine. And the sun shone hot &View full post »
it was a hot summer day when i drove down vancouver island to the oh-so-gorgeous milner garden’s in qualicum beach for kat & michel’s wedding ceremony. Their wedding was centered around the gathering of family & friends. And they all came, filled with love & support for these two fabulous people, & their day was a joy to be swept up in. The grounds & gardens were a blast to wander through with kat & michel & their fabulous wedding party. Lots toView full post »
in early august, i made my way over to vancouver island to photograph carla & warren’s amazing wedding at the shelter point distillery. It was that mid-summer wonder, just days before the barley was cut, so the fields around the distillery were golden, the skies were blue, the sun shone hot & everything was about as perfect as can be. Their story is one of both small town neighbourhoods & world wide travel. And for their walk into marriage, carla & warren cameView full post »
in july i made the journey over to gabriola island to photograph jason & michelle’s incredible wedding celebration. The day started with silent meditation, yoga & guru puja. All sprinkled with the laughter, curiosity & inclusiveness of small children. This was a gathering that honoured family, young & old, & the beauty of connectedness with the kinship of friends. There was good food, amazing locations, beautiful flowers, some rain, bright sunshine, heartfeltView full post »
on one of the hottest days of summer, under the bright sunshine, with comox lake & the comox glacier sparkling behind them, jenn & doug walked oh-so-happily into marriage & lucky me, i was there to photograph those sweet moments of their wedding day. The love & support of their family & friends was a joy to be carried in & the speeches had us all in tears & laughter. The super moon rose over it all & there was some serious rocking out on the dance floorView full post »
natalie & dave celebrated their amazing wedding day in lantzville, near nanaimo, on vancouver Island… & what an incredible joy it was to be the photographer who got to follow them through their day. I was so swept up & held in all the love & support they have within & around them. Surrounded by an incredible posse of heart-wide-open family & friends, their day was a slice of wonder-pie. And a good slice… a rich, creamy, all natural & wonderfullyView full post »
There are perks to being a wedding photographer on hornby island & it’s a toss up as to which is more awesome… one is that the environment here is Just.So.Spectacular. And every time i photograph here, i find new ways of seeing the beauty i call home. The second perk is that the people who come to get married here are just so fabulous to work with. And jaimie & clay were no exception. And there’s a little story behind all their day that that speaks a lot aboutView full post »

erin & roger were married at erin’s parents’ gorgeous home in cedar, outside nanaimo. The clouds parted on my way down island & by the time i arrived, the sun was out in it’s full spring time glory. All was gorgeous… tall grass fields sprinkled with daisies & buttercups, light breeze blowing, billowing clouds. An intimate gathering of erin & roger’s closest family & friends, a ceremony under a big blue sky, loads of love & laughter.View full post »
i first met jenn & doug in vancouver & had a great time finding out about their lives together, their hikes & travels far from the madding crowds & their plans for their upcoming summer wedding at comox lake. A couple of weeks ago, we met up for their engagement celebration session in seal bay provincial park in comox, had a walk amongst the trees & then headed off to explore the coast. I had so.much.fun. And am uber excited for their july wedding.
jenn & doug,View full post »
a hornby island elopement story…
valerie & doug wanted to get married, to speak out loud their heartfelt vows & promises to one another. And they wanted to elope, to have it be just about one another. And they wanted to do it somewhere beautiful, wrapped in the natural world where they spend so much time. They chose hornby island & their day was perfect. Sweet, simple, honest & heartfelt, indeed. They were married at the edge of the cliff, overlooking tribune bay. TheView full post »

a few spreads from a photo book i’m designing. I LOVE this process – retelling the story of a couple’s wedding day in the pages of a gorgeous book. One they will carry with them for a lifetime.

i’ve done this every year for the last few years… taken the time, early in the new year, to look back through the weddings i photographed the year before. And what strikes me most, year after year, is how absolutely grateful i am to the people who trust me to capture their wedding day in photographs. Who open their hearts & share their love & anticipation, kindness & caring, their friends & family, great food, fantastic dance moves, hilarious, heartfeltView full post »

it was the end of summer. I met with lea & andrew the day before their wedding to walk through the details & timing of their day. And it was pouring. West coast, soaked through, down pour kind of pouring. And they were calling for more of the same for the next day. It felt right, in a way, these two so used to being outdoors, in the elements – skiers, mountain bikers, outdoor adventurers. And it had rained at our engagement session (you can see that loveliness here). So all wasView full post »
brennan & ian’s day was amazing. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
i’m not surprised. When i first met them in victoria for their engagement session (check it out here) i knew i was in for an incredible ride on their wedding day. And i was. SO.MUCH.FUN. So much incredibleness. From the moment i arrived, i was bounced around in bubble of love & delight, full of laughter & celebration. It was a big gathering but everyone was so connected it felt intimate & easy. And they chose theView full post »

it was the end of summer. The sun shone after a few days of rain. Everything was quenched & the afternoon glowed in magic light. The crown mansion in qualicum beach was the perfect setting for celia & chris’ wedding ceremony. Set in the shade at the edge of the forest & surrounded by gardens, we were steeped in the wonder of witnessing these two promise their lives to one another. They walked into their ceremony as celia brownrigg & chris mcguigan & walked out as mrView full post »
