natalie & dave celebrated their amazing wedding day in lantzville, near nanaimo, on vancouver Island… & what an incredible joy it was to be the photographer who got to follow them through their day. I was so swept up & held in all the love & support they have within & around them. Surrounded by an incredible posse of heart-wide-open family & friends, their day was a slice of wonder-pie. And a good slice… a rich, creamy, all natural & wonderfullyView full post »
There are perks to being a wedding photographer on hornby island & it’s a toss up as to which is more awesome… one is that the environment here is Just.So.Spectacular. And every time i photograph here, i find new ways of seeing the beauty i call home. The second perk is that the people who come to get married here are just so fabulous to work with. And jaimie & clay were no exception. And there’s a little story behind all their day that that speaks a lot aboutView full post »

erin & roger were married at erin’s parents’ gorgeous home in cedar, outside nanaimo. The clouds parted on my way down island & by the time i arrived, the sun was out in it’s full spring time glory. All was gorgeous… tall grass fields sprinkled with daisies & buttercups, light breeze blowing, billowing clouds. An intimate gathering of erin & roger’s closest family & friends, a ceremony under a big blue sky, loads of love & laughter.View full post »
a hornby island elopement story…
valerie & doug wanted to get married, to speak out loud their heartfelt vows & promises to one another. And they wanted to elope, to have it be just about one another. And they wanted to do it somewhere beautiful, wrapped in the natural world where they spend so much time. They chose hornby island & their day was perfect. Sweet, simple, honest & heartfelt, indeed. They were married at the edge of the cliff, overlooking tribune bay. TheView full post »

lisa & mark had their mid-summer wedding wrapped in the beauty of victoria’s beacon hill park. Such an incredible setting. An intimate wedding, a gathering celebrating their commitment to one another & the love they share with their family & friends. A fantastic tribe, so much support & kindness. Simple elegance. And everything was honest & true. Their reception followed at the sea cider farm & ciderhouse in saanich, great food, wonderful speeches (that hadView full post »
a few spreads from a photo book i’m designing. I LOVE this process – retelling the story of a couple’s wedding day in the pages of a gorgeous book. One they will carry with them for a lifetime.

i’ve done this every year for the last few years… taken the time, early in the new year, to look back through the weddings i photographed the year before. And what strikes me most, year after year, is how absolutely grateful i am to the people who trust me to capture their wedding day in photographs. Who open their hearts & share their love & anticipation, kindness & caring, their friends & family, great food, fantastic dance moves, hilarious, heartfeltView full post »

it was the end of summer. I met with lea & andrew the day before their wedding to walk through the details & timing of their day. And it was pouring. West coast, soaked through, down pour kind of pouring. And they were calling for more of the same for the next day. It felt right, in a way, these two so used to being outdoors, in the elements – skiers, mountain bikers, outdoor adventurers. And it had rained at our engagement session (you can see that loveliness here). So all wasView full post »
brennan & ian’s day was amazing. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
i’m not surprised. When i first met them in victoria for their engagement session (check it out here) i knew i was in for an incredible ride on their wedding day. And i was. SO.MUCH.FUN. So much incredibleness. From the moment i arrived, i was bounced around in bubble of love & delight, full of laughter & celebration. It was a big gathering but everyone was so connected it felt intimate & easy. And they chose theView full post »

amanda & miguel’s wedding day & beautiful reception at the coastal black estate winery was one filled with hope & promise, loads of love & laughter, beautiful details, lots of kids, bright sunshine, warmth & caring. it was the end of summer. The sun shone after a few days of rain. Everything was quenched & the afternoon glowed in magic light. The crown mansion in qualicum beach was the perfect setting for celia & chris’ wedding ceremony. Set in the shade at the edge of the forest & surrounded by gardens, we were steeped in the wonder of witnessing these two promise their lives to one another. They walked into their ceremony as celia brownrigg & chris mcguigan & walked out as mrView full post »
strathcona park lodge wedding.
karen & russell’s wedding day was truly incredible. One of the most heartfelt & tender unions i’ve had the opportunity to witness & photograph. The love these two share is tangible & true. Rooted in the earth & the ocean, grounded & fluid, deep, abiding & very beautiful. And so was their day. Storm clouds gathered & passed, the wind whipped up while they spoke their vows, the sky cleared & the moon shone bright, asView full post »
cindy & joe gathered their closest family & friends at the gorgeous hycroft manor in vancouver to celebrate their love & their walk into marriage. And theirs is love worth celebrating. Deep & true, sweet, fun, & wonderfully honest. They are a joy to be around. Together they created amazing games for their posse to enjoy while we took family & wedding party photos & some moments with the 2 of them, caught up in all that wonder. There was jumbo jenga – that joeView full post »

kaylie & chad were married in the backyard they share with kaylie’s parents. A lot of work went into making the grounds as beautiful as they were on their day. A lot. The forecast called for rain but the sun shone in spite of it. Kaylie got ready with her girls at the beautiful tigh na mara resort &, after their heartfelt ceremony, i got to follow kaylie & chad through rathtrevor park for some time together amongst the old growth trees, the meadows & beach. what a day. The day lisa & justin gathered with their fabulous family & friends, at the fantastically gorgeous old vineyard in pemberton, bc. Sometimes i have a hard time finding the words to describe a couple & their wedding day. How many times can i say ‘fabulous’ & ‘fantastic’ & ‘gorgeous’ without it starting to sound, well, silly. But, truth be told, those adjectives describe lisa & justin & their wedding day really,View full post »
tamara & kyle’s awesome merridale cidery duncan bc wedding.
i first met tamara & kyle two summer’s ago when tamara was the maid of honour at keeley & chris’ wedding. The love & spark between kyle & her was infectious even then. And now, 2 years later, i was honoured to capture their own walk into marriage. It was tons of fun to reconnect with their fabulous group of friends & to meet their wonderfully supportive families. claire & will’s wedding celebration took many turns, from a weekend-long bash to a far-away elopement. Until one day their plans settled, close to home, surrounded by their families (& 1 dear friend), who traveled from many corners of the world to come witness their day. And it was perfect. The closeness & intimacy they all share made the world feel small, connected, whole. And i was honoured & grateful to be welcomed so warmly, into the circle of love & support thatView full post »
