Back in late august, i headed out to ucluelet to photograph heather & luke’s wedding celebration. I took my little family along, packed up in our westy, & made it a working holiday. Such gifts! We woke up that saturday morning, in the heart of the west coast rainforest, with the rain pouring down, quite literally in buckets. “Mama, i can’t sleep any longer, it’s too loud”. And so lying there listening to the pounding rhythm of waves falling from the sky, i went through my mental check list of gear… gortex, rubber boots, rain jackets for my cameras, lens hoods, extra change of clothing, wool. And all for not. By the time i arrived at the fabulous black rock resort, the clouds were parting & the sun was shining through. A huge warm welcome presence at this fantastic gathering.
Everything about heather & luke’s day was spectacular… the sunlight, that incredible location, the fabulous resort, their tribe of family & friends, all the love & laughter, the speeches, the food, all those fantastic dance moves. The hours poured one into another & we were carried away on this west coast wave of wonder, so much delight & a whole lot of love.
heather & luke, may the warmth of that sunny summer day & the fullness of all the love you gathered around you keep your hearts warm & full as you journey through your days as husband & wife. Heartfelt happiness to you both.
