lives lived & lost – a day of thanks & remembrance

vancouver island newborn photographersome days are big. Yesterday we gathered with friends & community to say goodbye to & celebrate the life of an amazing & dear friend & community member. Lots of tears, shared grief, the celebrating of an incredible life lived & lost, beautiful stories, pictures & food shared. The loss of arnie will change the weave of our community fabric forever. Some people are like that. And then a  gathering with my family in the late afternoon, my niece is here with her brand new baby, & my nephew & his partner who, after 5 years here, are leaving hornby, moving back to calgary in a week. Changes. So lots of heart-opening letting go & welcoming & thanks for good friends & family & time together. It’s all very precious & very fleeting.

& in the evening i came home to this post on my blog, from wedding clients karen & james. Blessings all.

“On this Thanksgiving weekend it seems fitting to write this blog post in response to the incredible sample of wedding photography above.
From the minute I made contact with Jennifer I knew that I had come across someone special.  At the time, my fiance and I had been seeking out vendors for our cake, decorators and for the venue, and felt incredibly blessed to have such a talented group of people, who really felt more like family to us, join us in making our wedding day dreams a reality; and Jennifer was no exception.
Her absolute passion towards love, and marriage carries over into her professional attitude. Each time I had a question, thought or idea about The Big Day, I was always excited to share with Jennifer and even more excited to have her input, which was always “better than I could have imagined myself”.  She is timely, compassionate and was so focused on me and James that it felt like we were the only ones in the world.
On the actual day of the wedding Jennifer added so much! She celebrated in our love and added to the joyful spirit of the day by being enthusiastic, creative and above all like part of the family.  She ran around snapping pictures and was able to cover each and every important moment; she welcomed feedback and ideas from my family; and offered supportive words to me in times of wedding day stress.  She traveled around in our car to different photo sites, and in those quiet times she offered us a sense of calm amidst a day of hustle and bustle.  Having Jennifer attend our wedding as our photographer was like having an old friend against whom you can lean and depend on.  She is someone who you can look out and see in the crowd and instantly feel comforted and loved.
As you can see from the pictures, she is also incredibly talented in her field and everyone who has seen our pictures comment on the quality of her work.
I cannot recommend Jennifer highly enough and now that the wedding is over, I still think of her often and the invaluable contributions she made to our wedding and our fairytale. Karen and James Kerwin”
